The ASTC Story

The Austin Striders Track Club, established in 1978 by Howard Ware, is one of Austin's oldest track and field organizations. The club has a rich history of nurturing young athletes, guiding them from local competitions to collegiate track and field programs.

Over the years, the Striders have participated in numerous regional and national competitions, fostering athletic excellence and community involvement. Their commitment extends beyond training, as they actively support athletes in securing college scholarships. Each year, the club awards scholarships to one male and one female athlete, aiding their pursuit of higher education and athletic careers.

The club's founders, Howard and Harvey Ware, played pivotal roles in its development, ensuring that the Striders not only competed successfully but also contributed positively to the community. Their vision has left an enduring legacy, with many athletes achieving collegiate and professional success in track and field.
